To verify that the backup data on the Backup Gateway is intact and usable for restores, you can run the restore validation. This feature helps you identify and troubleshoot errors on the Backup Gateway before you initiate restore for a VM or instance.
For VMware, you can validate backups of guest VMs, including VMs that run applications. For more information, see .
Procedure

From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtual machines.
The Overview page appears.

On the Virtual machines tab, in the row for the VM, click the action button
, and then click Troubleshoot > Validate restore. The Validate restore dialog box appears.

Configure the following:

Access node: Select the access node to use for the restore validation.
If you do not select an access node, the Commvault Cloud software picks the first access node that is specified in the Configuration area of the hypervisor associated with the VM group.

Restore from copy: Primary copy is selected by default.

In the Recovery points area, select a recovery point.

Click Validate Restore.
