The following are the requirements for the IBM i File System Agent 1-Touch disaster recovery by using Commvault VTL:

Disk Space

Client

There are no additional space requirements for the source client.

Target

The destination client must meet the following requirements:

  • The target system ASP must be the same size or larger than the source disk.

  • The target system must have the same IASP set and they must be the same size or larger than the source disk.

Proxy

There are no additional space requirements for the proxy computer.

VTL Configuration

Commvault virtual tape library should be configured and zoned to the source IBM i client and destination IBM i clients.

Miscellaneous

Network

TCP/IP services configured on the IBM i computer.

No firewall settings between the IBM i computer and the access node computer.

IPv6 is not supported.

User/SYSTEM Startup Script

Use the following guidelines and notes for the startup script that is specified in SYSTEM VALUE QSTRUPPGM:

  • The name is QGPL/<Program name>

  • The initial DR restore operation restores the *IBM provided libraries, QSYS2+QUSRSYS+QGPL libraries. If the IBM i client’s start-up program is located in user libraries, then you must configure the library paths under the Additional libraries option, available in additional subclient properties of the DR subclient. Otherwise, the destination IBM i client does not IPL properly during disaster recovery.
