Backing Up External Links

Applies To: Hitachi NAS (VSP One File) Revision 12.0 or higher

You can use the backup external links feature to control what happens when a backup operation encounters links to files that have been moved to an external server, such as a cloud server.

Procedure

1. From the CommCell Browser, go to client > NDMP > defaultBackupSet.

2. In the right pane, right-click the subclient, and then click Backup.

   The Backup Options dialog box appears.

3. On the Backup Options tab, click Advanced.

   The Advanced Backup Options dialog box appears.

4. On NAS Options tab, click the Backup External Links list and select one of the following options:

   • ignore: Links to external files are ignored and not included in the backup.

   • recreate_link: Metadata for links to external files will be included in the backup. Contents of the links to external files will not be backed up.

   • remigrate: Metadata and content for links to external files are included in the backup. This is the default behavior if no option is selected.

5. Click OK.

6. Select the backup type and schedule.

7. Click OK.
