When the RMAN repository does not contain information about the backup pieces that you want to restore, you can run a procedure to add the backup pieces from tape or media to the RMAN repository.
You can add the backup pieces with one of the following methods:

Create a script to catalog the backup pieces using backup job IDs. For more information, see Cataloging RMAN Backup Pieces from a List of Backup Job IDs.
