You can add active directory users or groups as client owners for servers or laptops using the following procedure. All active directory groups that are part of the Administrators group are set as client owners. All domain user profiles that are created on the laptop or server are added as client owners.
Note
Restricted client owners are not created during the client owner discovery operation. Restricted client owners are users who are part of a restricted group such as -[admin,administrator,administrador,root].
Before You Begin
Commvault recommends that you configure AD users or groups from the Name Servers page. If you have not configured the AD users or groups, then the domain that is discovered is added to the CommCell Console.
Procedure

To enable AD group owner assignment, on the client computer, configure the nAllowClientOwnerGroupAssignment additional setting and set the Value to 1

To enable automatic owner assignment for servers, on the client computer, configure the nAllowSettingOwners additional setting and set the Value to 1.

To specify the local user group for assigning owners, configure the ClientGroupForLaptop additional settingwith a local machine user group name as a value. For example, Backup Operators or Administrators,Power Users,Backup Operators (in case of multiple values).
Note
By default, the local administrator group is set, even if the additional setting is not configured.

Restart services on the client computer.
