To customize the Commvault environment for vRealize users, you can perform required configuration tasks from the Command Center or CommCell Console.
vRealize supports a multi-tenant environment.
The procedure gives instructions for VMware VMware Aria Automation (formerly vRealize Automation) versions 8.x.
Procedure
Perform the following tasks from the Command Center:
-
Configure a VMware hypervisor.
If you have already created a virtualization client from the CommCell Console, you can use that instead.
You must use the name of the hypervisor or virtualization client as the name of the vRealize Orchestrator endpoint in vRealize. For example, if you use the fully qualified domain name for the hypervisor or virtualization client, you must use exactly the same name for the sdkId in the vRealize Orchestrator endpoint.
To verify the vRealize endpoint name in vRealize Orchestrator, go to VRA Orchestrator > Administration > Inventory
The value shown for vSphere vCenter plugin is the vRealize endpoint name.
-
Create a backup plan.
Automatically Created Objects
Some Command Center objects are created automatically when you use the vRealize Plugin:
-
The vRealize Plugin automatically creates a backup set for the associated tenant in the Command Center when you add a VM to a VM group using a template, back up a VM group, or back up a VM.
-
When a user for a particular tenant requests a backup for a virtual machine, the vRealize Plugin automatically creates a Command Center VM group. The VM group name is in the form tenant_id.vm_group_name.
