During consistency checks, also called integrity checks, the database and transaction log files are inspected for errors that might prevent the database from mounting, or that might prevent users from receiving, deleting, or opening messages. If any errors are detected, they are fixed before the database is backed up.
By default, consistency checks are turned off for DAG environments, but are turned on for stand-alone environments.
In addition, you can create pause points so that Exchange system resources are made available periodically to other processes (for example, sending and receiving messages) under the following circumstances:
-
Prolonged consistency checks of large databases
-
High load on the Exchange server
