Configure replication on the subclient whose data you want to replicate. After the data is replicated to the destination computer, run regular incremental backups on the subclient to keep the data on the destination computer in sync.
Caution
The replication operation unconditionally overwrites the data on the destination computer.
Before You Begin
-
You can enable replication for client computers that use indexing and have the Windows File System Agent package or the UNIX File System Agent package installed.
-
You can use replication to replicate data from a streaming backup, an auxiliary copy, or a backup copy, and IntelliSnap backups.
-
To create a replication pair, you must have valid backups of the subclient content.
-
You cannot perform replication on a distributed client or using MEDITECH backup sets.
Note
Replication is not supported for boot disks.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > File System > backup_set.
-
Right click the subclient, and then select Live Sync > Configuration.
The Live Sync Options for Subclient dialog box appears.
-
On the General tab, make the following selections:
From the Destination Client list, select the destination computer where the sync operation must happen.
You can use the same computer as your source computer and destination computer.
-
Click Add Paths.
You will receive a warning message if no backups are available.
-
In the Source Path column, browse and select the backed up available on the source computer.
-
In the Destination Path column, browse and select the restore location for the destination computer. You can also enter a UNC path.
Note
Do not specify the same destination path across multiple schedules as the content on the destination computer will be overwritten.
-
-
In the Number of streams box, type the number of streams to use to replicate the data.
-
To overwrite data to the same folder on the destination computer, select the Unconditional Overwrite check box.
-
Optional: If you specified a UNC path in the Destination path box, select the Impersonate User check box, and then provide the user account credentials for the new destination (specified in the UNC path).
-
To replicate changes from an auxiliary copy or backup copy, perform the following actions:
-
Click Advanced.
The Advanced Live Sync Options dialog box appears.
-
On the Copy Precedence tab, select Restore from copy precedence, and then enter the number of the storage copy properties for the auxiliary copy or the backup copy.
When you configure replication to use an auxiliary copy or a backup copy, the replication operation uses the copy as the source rather than the primary copy.
-
Click OK.
-
-
To create a schedule for replication, on the Job Initiation tab, complete the following steps:
-
Select Schedule.
The Schedule Details dialog box appears.
-
Click Configure.
-
Enter a schedule name, then select one of the following options:
-
To copy changes to the destination computer automatically after each backup job, select After Backup Job Completes.
-
To replicate changes periodically, select Daily, Weekly, Monthly, or Yearly, and then specify the replication schedule to control how often changes are replicated to the destination computer.
If no new backups have run since the most recent replication, then the scheduled replication runs but does not replicate any data.
