Configuring Windows Backup Users on a Domain Controller

You can add a user to the Backup Operators Group to grant them permissions to perform backup operations on a Domain Controller.

Before You Begin

Make sure that users who perform backups must be either an administrator or a backup operator. For more information, see Permissions Required for the Windows File System Agent.

Procedure

1. Expand Active Directory Users > Computers > Users.

2. Right-click the appropriate user who will be performing backups and click Properties.

3. On the Member Of tab, click Add to add the Backup Operators group to the User.

4. Click OK.

5. Log off and log on to the computer as the domain controller Administrator for the policies to take effect.
