Creating a Network Share Client for Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale CIFS/NFS Exports

You can create a network share client in the CommCell Console.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers, and then click New Client.

    The Add New Client dialog box appears.

  2. Click the NAS / Network Share Client button.

    The Add NAS/Network Share Client dialog box appears.

  3. In the Client Name box, type a name for the new Network Share client.

  4. In the Host Name box, type the host name for the Network Share client.

  5. Select the Network Share check box.

  6. For CIFS (Windows) shares, select the CIFS check box.

  7. For NFS (Unix) shares, select the NFS check box.

  8. From the Vendor list, select Dell EMC Isilon.

  9. In the Manage Array box, to configure the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale storage array, click the action button ....

    The Array Management dialog box appears.

  10. Click Add.

    The Filer Properties dialog box appears.

  11. On the General tab, specify the following information:

    1. From the Snap Vendor list, select Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale.

    2. In the Name box, enter the external IP address or the host name of any node in the Isilon cluster.

    3. In the Control Host box, enter the external IP address or the host name of any node in the Isilon cluster.

    4. In the Credentials area, click Change.

      The User Account dialog box appears.

    5. Type the credentials of a user who has the privileges needed for the operations that you require.

    6. Click OK.

  12. Optional: To use the NDMP backup operations, select the NDMP check box, and then do the following:

    1. In the NDMP Login box, enter the NDMP user name to log in to the Dell EMC Isilon file server.

    2. In the NDMP Password box, type the password for the NDMP user name.

    3. Optional: In the Listen Port box, to specify a different listen port, type a port number.

    4. From the Detect MediaAgent list, select a MediaAgent computer. By default, the CommServe host is used to connect to the NAS client. If your CommServe host is unable to connect to the file server directly, select a MediaAgent to use to connect to the file server:

      Notes

      • If left blank, the CommServe host communicates with the file server directly.

      • The time zone setting of the NAS client is the same as the Detect MediaAgent. If no Detect MediaAgent is selected, then the time zone setting is the same as the CommServe computer.

    5. Optional: To view the NDMP properties such as Vendor, Firmware revision, and Time zone, click Preview.

      The NDMP Properties dialog box appears.

    6. Click OK.

  13. Click OK.
