Disabling a Storage Policy for Backup

You can disable inactive storage policies. This will simplify the storage policy management and report generation in a large CommCell. Storage policies with infinite or long-term retention can be disabled for backup, which reduces the risk of accidentally removing important information.

Before disabling a storage policy for backup, ensure that no subclients are associated with the storage policy. Once a storage policy is disabled for backup, you cannot associate it with a subclient.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies | Storage Policies.

  2. Right-click the appropriate storage policy, and then click Properties.

  3. Select the Disable Storage Policy for Backups check box.

If one or more subclients are associated to this storage policy, a message appears that tells you to re-associate all subclients to another storage policy.

  4. Click OK.
