Enabling Legal Holds for a Storage Policy

Legal Hold is the process used by an organization to identify and segregate relevant data found during a data discovery operation and preserve them for a long term for legal purposes. For example, you can use Legal Hold to preserve relevant information of any pending or anticipated litigation or of any routine investigation for a long retention time.

In order to perform a legal hold, you need to enable legal hold for a storage policy. For more information, refer to Case Manager.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Policies | Storage Policies.

  2. Right-click the appropriate storage policy, and then click Properties.

  3. Select the Enable this Storage Policy for Legal Holds check box.
