Filter Criteria for Find

You can use filter criteria to limit the number of search results that appear in the search results. You can specify additional options to run the Find operation, such as Time Range, Copy Precedence, Starting Path, Page Size, and so on. For detailed information about these options, see the corresponding Browse and Restore page for your agent.

The following options are available in the Find Options dialog box on the Filter tab.

Criterion Name	Description	Examples
File Name	Find files and folders with specific names or name patterns. Note Hyphens (-) are not supported in the file name. To search for a file name that contains a hyphen, replace the hyphen with a wildcard such as . Wildcards: Wildcard expressions can be used to match specific file name patterns. A combination of wildcards in a single expression can be used. If the expression is specified by itself, without a path (.txt), all data within the backup set that satisfies the expression is returned. If a wildcard pattern that matches the name of a directory was specified, the system restores the directory, but none of the directory contents. For example, if the wildcard restore string is tem?, the system restores all data named with a four-character string starting with the letters t, e, and m. If a directory name satisfies the wild card condition (sys:\temp) then only the directory is restored. None of the files or any subdirectories are restored. Modified Date	Find files and folders with specific modification dates.	Today Last Month
File Size	Find files with specific file sizes.	Greater Than 10 MB Less Than or Equal To 5 GB
Stubbed Objects	Find files that existed as stubs when backed up.	Show Only
Contains	Find backed up files with specific wording in the file content. This filter applies when the Content Indexing Engine is installed and a Content Indexing job was run after the last backup job.	file system fiscal year
