  • Very Long-Term Retention for Archival Data

Archival data which is no longer actively used in operational business services, but must be kept available for recovery (at cost), if required by business.

  • Regulatory Retention for Archival Data

Archival data which is no longer actively used in operational business services, but must be kept available for recovery (at cost), if required for regulatory/compliance reasons.

Solutions

Commvault software supports the following methods to store data in archive storage tiers:

  • Combined Storage Tier

By default, Commvault software supports combined storage tier to store data in archive storage tiers.

Commvault's combined storage tier stores a small portion of the frequently accessed indexing and metadata in the warm tiers, while storing a major portion of the actual data in the archive tiers, to provide a simplified, cheaper, and quicker data recalls when needed. For more information, see Combined Storage Tier.

  • Archive Storage Tier

Commvault also supports direct storage to the native archive cloud storage services provided by cloud vendors. For more information, see Archive Storage Tier.

Archive storage tier defaults to combined storage tier.
