Restores

The archived messages can be restored in the following formats:

Restore as Data

This is the default option and can be verified as follows:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Exchange Mailbox (Classic).

  2. Right-click the defaultBackupSet, and then click All Tasks > Browse and Restore.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Select a mailbox, a message, or a mailbox item from the Client Browse window and click Recover All Selected.

  5. Click To Mailbox.

  6. In the Destination client list, select the client.

  7. Click Advanced.

  8. On the General tab, verify Restore as Data is selected under the Exchange Restore Options and click Ok.

Restore as Stubs

Messages archived from the .pst files will be stubbed back into the user mailbox during restore if this option is selected.

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Exchange Mailbox (Classic).

  2. Right-click the defaultBackupSet, and then click All Tasks > Browse and Restore.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Select a mailbox, a message, or a mailbox item from the Client Browse window and click Recover All Selected.

  5. Click To Mailbox.

  6. In the Destination client list, select the client.

  7. Click Advanced.

  8. On the General tab, select Restore as Stubs under the Exchange Restore Options.

    Optionally you can select to restore the stub with:

    • The message body visible in it by selecting Leave message body in the stub.

    • The recall link embedded in the message by selecting Add recall link to stub body.

  9. Click OK.

Restore as Backed Up

Backups may contain a combination of both data and stubs. In order to restore the data as it was backed up follow the steps given below:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Exchange Mailbox (Classic).

  2. Right-click the defaultBackupSet, and then click All Tasks > Browse and Restore.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. Select a mailbox, a message, or a mailbox item from the Client Browse window and click Recover All Selected.

  5. Click To Mailbox.

  6. In the Destination client list, select the client.

  7. Click Advanced.

  8. On the General tab, select Restore as Backed up under the Exchange Restore Options and click OK.
