You can restore an entire DB2 database to a point-in-time.
Before You Begin
-
Drop the database by using the DB2 command "db2 drop database <db_name>".

Verify that the DB2 archive log path and the DB2 retrieve path are empty.

Empty the DB2 online log path.

Get the backup time from the Job Details dialog box. For information on how to view the job details, see Viewing Details of a Job.
Procedure

From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > DB2 > instance.

Right-click the backup_set, point to All Tasks, and then click Browse and Restore.
The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

On the Time Range tab, select the time range to use for the restore.

Select Time Range, and then select Absolute Time.

Check the End Time check box, and then enter the date and time.
-
Click View Content.

On the Browse view, in the right pane, select the point-in-time tablespaces to restore, and then click Recover All Selected.
The DB2 Restore Options dialog box appears.

On the Recover Database tab, clear the Recover DB check box.

On the Restore Arguments tab, in the Backup Images area, choose an option for selecting backup images:

To let the Commvault software select the latest backup images or the latest point-in-time backup images, based on the choice you made on the Time Range tab on the Browse and Restore dialog box, choose Auto Pick Backup Images.

To manually select a cycle of backup images, choose Select Backup Images. Select the images from the Available Images box, and then click > to move the selected images to the Selection box.

On the General tab, do the following.

Select the Restore Data check box.

Select the Entire Database option.

From the Destination Computer list, select the computer.

From the Destination Instance list, select the instance.

In the Target Database Name box, type the target database name.

In the Target Database Path, type the full path to the destination database or browse to the location. For Windows clients, the Target Database Path is the drive letter (for example: E:\).

Click Advanced.
The Advanced Restore Options dialog box appears.

Specify the storage path if you have an automatic database, or the redirect information if you have a non-automatic database.

Automatic Database
On the Storage Paths tab:
-
Select the Redirect Storage Groups check box.

Click one of the storage groups in the Storage groups box. The storage paths are listed in the Paths box.

To change a path for this storage group, click it, then click Edit. Type the changes to the path or click Browse to browse to the desired path.

To add a path for this storage group, click Add. Type the path or click Browse to browse to the desired path.

The delete button is disabled if there is only one path. To delete a path if there is more than one path, select the path in the box, and then click Delete.
Non-Automatic Databases
On the Redirect tab:
-
Select the Redirect All Table Spaces/Database to check box.
-
Type the path to redirect the tablespaces and database.
-
To redirect each tablespace container, or edit the container name, select the Redirect TableSpace Container check box.

In the Container Name box, select the container, and then click Edit.
The Editing Container Name dialog box appears.

In the Name box, type the container name.
-
From the Type list, select the container type.
-
In the Pages box, type the disk space for the container name.
This value is the number of pages. Each page is 4KB. The minimum value is 1.

Click OK.

On the Roll-forward tab, specify the roll-forward option:

To roll-forward to a point-in-time, select To a Point in Time, and then enter the date and time.

To roll-forward to the end of the backup, select To the End of the logs.

Click OK.
