Restoring the Index Server to a Different Location

You can restore the Index Server to a different location. For example, you can move the index server to a larger disk drive without reconstructing the index.

To restore to a different location, you must install the Index Store package as a new instance on the index server node, and then create a new Index Server.

Procedure

  1. In the CommCell Browser, go to Client Computer Groups > Index Servers > index_server > Big Data Apps > dynamicInstanceName.

  2. Right-click the subclient, and then click Browse and Restore.

The Browse and Restore Options dialog box appears.

  3. Click View Content.

  4. In the left pane, go to dynamicInstanceName, and then select the roles assigned to the Index Server.

  5. Click Recover All Selected.

The Restore Options for All Selected Items dialog box appears.

  6. From the Destination client list, select the index server.

  7. Clear the Restore to same folder check box, and then specify the location where you want to restore the index.

  8. Click OK.

  9. After the restore completes, stop the services on the index server.

  10. Install the Index Store package as a new instance on the index server node.

For more information, Enabling Multi-Instance Installations.

  11. In the Command Center, create a new Index Server:

    • Select the index directory folder where you restored the index.

    • Select the same roles as the original Index Server.

For more information, see Creating an Index Server.

  12. Associate the Index Server you created in the Command Center with the clients:

    1. From the CommCell Browser, go Client Computers > client.

    2. Right-click the agent, and then click Properties.

The agent properties dialog box appears.

    3. On the General tab, select the new index server from the Index Server list.

    4. Click OK.

A message appears that tells you that the index will be reconstructed.

    5. Click No.
