Restore the Sybase master database when it is corrupted or lost.
Use this procedure for a backup that was performed on a subclient that is configured for an IntelliSnap dumpbased backup copy (Subclient Properties dialog box, IntelliSnap Operations tab, Use Dumpbased Backup Copy check box).
Best Practice: Select the option to create the Sybase devices (Restore Options dialog box, General tab, Sybase Create Devices check box).
Before You Begin

If you do not select the Sybase Create Devices option (Restore Options dialog box), manually create the master database.

Place the server offline.
Procedure

From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Sybase.

Right-click the instance, point to All Tasks, and then click Browse and Restore.

Select Latest Backup and click View Content.

In the right pane of the CommCell Browser window, select the master database, and click Recover All Selected.
The Restore Options dialog box is displayed.

Select the Sybase Create Devices check box and then click Advanced.
The Advanced Restore Options dialog box is displayed.

On the Copy Precedence tab, do the following:

Select the Restore from copy precedence check box.

In the Copy Precedence box, select the number of the backup copy.

Click OK to close the Advanced Restore Options dialog box.

Optional: Select the restore options.
Rename the Databases
To rename the database to a new name:

Select the Rename databases check box and then click Advanced.
The Advanced Restore Options dialog box is displayed.

On the Options tab, in the row for the database that you want to rename, click the Target Database column and enter the new name.

Click OK to close the Advanced Restore Options dialog box.
Restore the database to a new server
- To restore the database to a new server, select the server from the Destination Server list.
Choose whether to recover the database after the restore
To recover the database after the restore, select the Recover check box.
To not recover the database after the restore, select the No Recover check box.

Click OK to close the Restore Options dialog box.
