Snapshot Configuration Properties of the HPE 3PAR StoreServ / Primera / HPE Alletra 9000 Series / HPE GreenLake for Block Storage Array

The Snap Configuration tab contains properties that affect the behavior of the storage array in your environment.

Property

Description

Storage Device Group

The name of the Common Provisioning Group (CPG) group that is created on the storage array that you use for HPE 3PAR StoreServ clone or remote-replication operations.

For clone operations, if you do not specify a CPG group, then the CPG group of the source volume is used for clone operations.

For remote replication, if you do not specify a CPG group, then the first CPG group of the target array is used for replication. If you want to use a CPG group on the destination array, then you must specify the CPG group in the snapshot configuration of the source array.

Use Device only from this Group

If you select this option, then only snapshot devices that are available in the storage pool that is specified in Storage Device Group are used.

SMIS Server Port

The array Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) server port.

The default value is 5988.

Use secure connection to SMIS Server

If you select this option, then the connection to the client uses secure socket layer (SSL).

Mount Retry Interval (in seconds)

The time interval (in seconds) after which the next mount operation is attempted.

The default value is 300.

Enable Parallel Snap Operation

If you select this option, then you can run parallel snapshot operations.

On UNIX computers, if you don't select this option, then only one operation can run at a time.

Notes

  • Some system configurations need setting the additional setting 3PAR_SNAP_NO_PARALLEL to enable parallel snapshot operations. If that is the case with your system, then set 3PAR_SNAP_NO_PARALLEL to 0.

  • For snapshot clone based operations, the system might get slow if run parallel snapshot operations. If that is the case with your system, then set 3PAR_SNAP_NO_PARALLEL to 1 so that clone operations don't run simultaneously.

To add or edit an additional setting, follow the steps in Add or Modify an Additional Setting.

Enable Thin Provisioning

If you select this option, then you can use a thin provisioning volume as the destination volume, even though the source volume is a standard volume.

If you don't select this option, then the destination volume needs to be of the same type as the source volume (For example, a standard source volume can use a standard destination volume, and a thin provisioning volume can use a thin provisioning volume as destination.)

Array Id of the target array for replication

The array name of the target array for replication.

Remote Snap MA

The name(s) of the MediaAgent(s) that are used as a Remote Snap MediaAgent. You can select multiple MediaAgents as Remote Snap MediaAgents. Selecting multiple MediaAgents ensures that snapshot operations are successful without interruptions if a MediaAgent offline. When a MediaAgent is offline, the jobs are taken over by another MediaAgent that is online.

Click the Add button and select or clear the check box next to the MediaAgents in the Select Remote Snap MAs window. The name of MediaAgent is displayed in the following format: <client_display_name> (<client_name>).

Note

  • Ensure that all the Remote Snap MediaAgents are accessible from the array.

  • If you have an environment with multiple CommCell Consoles, then you must use the Commvault Platform Release 2024 version of the CommCell Console to configure multiple Remote Snap MediaAgents.

Use asynchronous periodic mode for replication

When selected, sets the asynchronous periodic mode for replication.
