Supported Exchange Mailbox Filters

The following filters can be used to filter mailbox content while browsing data on a previously backed up mailbox:

Description

From

This can be used to filter mails from specific senders, for example, first_name@companyname.com. You can enter the email address of the Sender in From box.

Multiple keywords can be specified together using “AND”, “OR” operators

To

This can be used to filter mails sent to specific senders, for example, first_name@companyname.com. You can enter the email address of the recipient in the To box.

Multiple keywords can be specified together using “AND”, “OR” operators.

Subject

This can be used to filter mails sent with a specific subject. You can enter the subject of the mail in Subject box.

Multiple keywords can be specified together using “AND”, “OR” operators.

Importance

This can be used to filter mails sent with some level of importance. You can select one of the following as importance strengths:

  • High

  • Normal

  • Low

Mail Size

This can be used to filter mails of specific size. The following operators can be used to specify the size of the mails:

  • greater than

  • less than

  • greater than equal to

  • less than equal to

Time

This can be used to filter mails received on specific day or days. You can use this filter to include mails based on its receiving attributes such as:

  • Today

  • Yesterday

  • This Week

  • This Month

  • This Year

  • Last Week

  • Last Month

  • Last Year

  • Last 2 Years

  • Last 5 Years

Has Attachments

This can be used to filter mails that include or exclude attachments.

  • Select the Has Attachments check box to backup mails with attachments.

  • Clear the Has Attachments check box to backup mails without any attachments

Folder Path

This can be used to filter mails that reside in a specific folder on the mailbox. Enter a Folderpath in the given text area to backup emails belonging to that folder.

Attachment Name

This can be used to filter mails that include attachments with a specific name.

Categories

This can be used to filter mails that have some category specified within the mailbox.

Contains

This can be used to filter mails that include certain wordings in their content.

This filter works differently when Content Indexing Engine is installed and a Content Indexing job has been run after the last backup job.

  • If Content Indexing is not enabled, results will be displayed based on the following fields, that is, subject field, to and from.

  • If Content Indexing is enabled on the client and at least one job is Content Indexed, the results will be displayed from the Content Indexed data based on the following fields, that is, to, from, message body, subject, attachment.

    Note: To Browse and Restore Data from more recent jobs, the jobs must be Content Indexed.

Stubbed Email

This can be used to filter and only show stubbed emails in a mailbox.

Mailbox Name

This can be used to filter mails based on the display name of the mailbox.

To enable this filter ensure that the domain is added under the Security node in the CommCell Console. For details, see Adding a Domain Controller for Active Directory.

Notes:

  • A newly added mailbox can be filtered based on the mailbox name after 24 hours.

  • Content indexed mailboxes cannot be filtered based on mailbox name.
