You can enable automatic synchronization of data on the source disk and the index to detect inconsistency between the extents on the volume snapshot and the extents backed up on the media.
Synchronization of data works by comparing the extent hashes from the source volume and the extent hashes currently available in the index, and the missing extents, if any, are backed up.
After you enable this feature, the subsequent block-level backup job (full or incremental) might run longer by 15%-30% because the backup job calculates, compares, and sends the extent hash to the index. Sometimes, these jobs might be CPU intensive.
Before You Begin
-
You must have indexing enabled on your client computer.
-
Starting Service Pack 12, this feature is selected by default for new subclients.
