  1. From the ServiceNow navigation pane, go to Clients.

The client list includes physical computers and virtual machines that have Commvault software installed.

  2. In the Actions column, click the action button for the computer that you want to restore, and then select Restore.

The Restore client dialog box appears.

  3. Complete one of the following steps:

    • Select Windows File System, a backup set, and a subclient.

    • Select UNIX File System, a backup set, and a subclient.

  4. In the Source path box, enter the exact file path for the source file. You can also click the browse icon to browse for and then select the source file.

For example, enter one of the following:

    • Windows: C:\Share\MyDocument.doc

    • UNIX: \share\my_file.txt

  5. To restore to the source machine and replace the original file, select Overwrite if it already exists.

  6. Choose the destination:

    • To restore to the original location, select Restore to original folder.

    • To restore to a different location, enter the exact path in the Destination path box.

For example, enter one of the following:

      • Windows: C:\Temp\MyDocument.doc

      • UNIX: \tmp\my_file.txt

Important: If you specify the same location and name as an existing file and do not select Unconditionally overwrite if it already exists, the restore fails.

  7. Click Restore.
