The way that you add the Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 object storage repository depends on the authentication method that you use.
To back up storage containers using access and secret keys, add the repository using an access key and a secret key.
If an Azure virtual machine (VM) from the same Azure environment can be authorized to access the Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 account that you want to back up, then you can add the repository using the storage blob data owner role to authenticate the account.
If you want to back up the Azure Data Lake Gen2 account with a non-Azure VM as the access node, then to authenticate the account, you need to create an Azure AD application and assign the storage blob owner role to that application, and then add the repository.
