When you migrate the application, you specify both the Azure Virtual Machine Image (template) and the Azure Resource Manager instance.
Commvault software creates a new virtual machine instance in the Azure cloud.
If you use and need additional storage for data, you can add a new storage device for the new or existing instance.
Before You Begin
Ensure that you have installed a proxy client in the Azure cloud.
Verify that the source on-premises database is running on a Microsoft Windows operating system. Only SQL Server instance on Windows platform is the supported environment for the source database that is to be migrated.
Complete the Azure Resource Manager configuration. For more information, see Configuration for SQL Database Application Migration to an Azure Resource Manager Instance.
Verify that the Azure Virtual Machine Image being used for the migration is preconfigured with SQL Server installed.
Have the backup administrator configure the system for Database Application Migration to an Azure Resource Manager instance.
Make sure that you have the following information:
The Azure account information.
The Azure Virtual Machine Image name.
The recovery target.
Procedure
From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.
On the upper-right corner of the page, click the menu icon
, and then click Migrate to cloud.
The Migrate to cloud page appears.
From the Cloud type list, select Azure.
Expand the Content Selection node, and then select the databases to migrate.
Expand the Cloud compute configuration node, and then specify the AMI information.
Type the VM Name. This is the virtual machine that will be created in the Azure cloud.
Specify the user name and password for the virtual machine that you are creating.
From the Recovery Target list, select the lifecycle policy.
From the Template list, select the Azure Image that will host the instance.
From the Size list, select the type of Azure instance to create.
For information on Azure virtual machine sizes, go to the Azure documentation website, General purpose virtual machine sizes.
In the No. of CPUs box, type the number of CPUs you require for the migration.
In the Memory (GB) box, type the required memory size in GB.
Optional: Expand the Storage Configuration node, and then click Add storage.
The Add storage dialog box appears.
In the Mount points box, type a unique name for the mount point.
From the Size(GB) box, type the mount point size.
In the Description box ,type the name or phrase to describe the mount point.
Click OK.
Optional: To modify the mount points. In the row for the mount point, click the
edit button.
The Edit storage dialog box appears.
In the Mount points box, type a unique name for the mount point.
From the Size(GB) box, type the mount point size.
In the Description box ,type the name or phrase to describe the mount point.
Click OK.
Optional: Expand the Network route configuration node, and then configure the required firewall configuration.
Select the There is firewall between client machine and CommServe check box.
To allow connection to CommServe on tunnel port, select Client machines can open connection to CommServe on tunnel port.
To allow open connection from CommServe to the client machine, select CommServe can open connections to client machines.
To configure connection using a proxy, select CommServe is reachable only through proxy.
In the CommServe HTTP/HTTPS tunnel port number box, type the port number. For example, 8403.
Expand the Migration Options page node, and then specify the migration options. In the Migration area, select whether this operation is a one-time operation, or continuous:
To have this as a one-time operation, select One time.
To have this as a continuous operation that uses the Live Sync feature, select Continuous (Live Sync).
To restore the data from a specific copy, in the Restore from copy box, select the copy from which you want to restore the data.
Click Submit.
