You can use the Virtual Server Agent to perform an application-aware backup for virtual domain controllers for Active Directory.
The backup operation protects the Active Directory database.
The following requirements apply:
You must have a Server File System license to perform application-aware backups for Active Directory.
As VM group (subclient) content, include virtual machines that act as Active Directory domain controllers in a separate VM group (subclient) under a hypervisor (Virtual Server instance).
The guest VM operating system must be Windows Server 2008 R2 or later.
Note: Perform full or incremental backups for VM groups (subclients) that are configured for application-aware backups. Synthetic full backups are not supported. Scheduled synthetic full backups are converted automatically to full backups for VM groups and subclients that are configured for application-aware backups.
