Creating a Custom Role (Fully Managed Deployments)


Define a custom role that includes only the permissions that are required for in-place restores of VMs.


Perform the following steps from the Command Center:

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Security.

    The Security page appears.

  2. Click the Roles tile.

    The Roles page appears.

  3. In the upper-right area of the page, click Add role.

  4. In the Name box, enter a descriptive name for the role (for example, VM Owner).

  5. Under the Client category, select the check boxes for the following permissions:

    • Agent Scheduling

    • Data Protection/Management Operations

    • Browse

    • In Place Recover

    • Out-of-Place Recover

    • In Place Full Machine Recovery

  6. Click Save.

    The Roles page appears.

  7. To make the new role available for assignment to tenant users, perform the following steps:

    1. Click the new role.

      The Edit role dialog box appears.

    2. Select the Visible to all check box.

    3. Click Save.
