Creating a Schedule to Copy Software

On this page

You can use the Command Center to create a schedule to copy the Commvault software package to the CommServe server and remote caches.

Note: If the CommServe server and/or remote cache already has the Commvault software, the copy operation will replace old software files with new ones.

The CommServe server cache directory only supports packages from the current Commvault version. If you have packages from older versions, do not copy them.

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > System > Maintenance.

    The Maintenance page appears.

  2. Click Download/copy software.

The Download/copy software section appears, showing the current feature release, the latest available feature release, and the last job that was run.

  3. Click Schedule job .

The Download/copy software dialog box appears.

  4. Click Download software using Local copy.

  5. In Path for resource, specify the directory where the software is located.

Note: You can change the directory of the software cache. For more information, see Moving the CommServe Server Cache.

  6. If the software is in a network or NFS share, specify a user account with sufficient permissions to access the share by moving the Impersonate User toggle key to the right, and then entering a User name and Password.

  7. In Schedule settings, move the schedule toggle key to the right.

The Edit schedule dialog box appears.

  8. Edit the repeatable schedule as follows:

    1. In the Name field, enter a name for the new schedule.

    2. In the Frequency field, select a recurrence pattern for the copy job. Depending on your selection, more options will appear, as follows:

      • One time. Select this recurrence pattern to open a calendar, which allows you to select a date and time for a one-time software copy.

      • Automatic. Select this recurrence pattern to open options that restrict software copy jobs depending on job intervals, network types, computer power options, resource utilization, and file management options.

      • Daily. Select this recurrence pattern to set a repeatable daily software copy schedule.

      • Weekly. Select this recurrence pattern to set a repeatable weekly software copy schedule.

      • Monthly. Select this recurrence pattern to set a repeatable monthly software copy schedule.

      • Continuous. Select this recurrence pattern to set the interval pattern (in minutes) between software copy jobs.

    3. Click Save.

The Download/copy software dialog box appears.

  9. In Remote caches to sync, select the remote caches where you want to copy the software to (in addition to copying to the CommServe server cache).

  10. Click Save.

The system will copy the software according to the schedule you just created.
