You can search for email messages and files by using keywords, filters, and saved searches. The search results can be added to a case in Case Manager or exported to several file formats.
Before You Begin
Complete the setup for Case Manager. For instructions, see Getting Started with the Case Manager for Exchange Mailboxes.
Verify that you have the permissions needed to perform searches in Compliance Search.
To search email messages by using an exact keyword, you must enable exact keyword matching. For more information, see Creating Data Classification Plans for Case Manager.
Procedure
From the navigation pane, go to Activate.
The Activate page appears.
Under eDiscovery & Compliance, click Compliance search.
The Compliance search page appears.
In the upper-left area of the page, from the list, select one of the following:
Email
Email, File
File
Tip: To set a default value, in the upper-right area of the page, click Configuration, and then from the Default search view list, select Email, Email, File, or File.
To search for email messages in an index server different than the default index server, do the following:
On the Configuration tab, click Edit.
The Preference dialog box appears.
From the Search engine list, select the access node that want search for email messages and files in.
Click Save.
To set a default value for searching email messages, files, or both, do the following:
On the Configuration tab, click Edit.
The Preference dialog box appears.
From the Default search view list, select Email, Email, File, or File.
Click Save.

From the search results, select the relevant email messages and files, and then add the messages and files to a case or export the messages and files.
