To restore guest files and folders from Linux VMs, you must deploy a File Recovery Enabler for Linux (FREL) that can be used to mount Linux file system data.
Procedure
Use one of the following methods to deploy a FREL:
Install the Virtual Server Agent and MediaAgent packages on a Linux machine that runs a supported operating system and kernels. Machines that meet the requirements are automatically configured as FRELs.
Convert an existing Linux MediaAgent to a FREL.
For VMware, use an open virtual appliance (OVA) template to deploy a VM that is configured as a FREL.
After deploying a FREL, edit the hypervisor configuration to identify FRELs that can be used with the hypervisor.
