Adding a Qumulo File Storage File Server for CIFS

After you install the Windows File System agent on the access nodes, create a Qumulo File Storage file server.


  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File servers.

    The File servers page appears.

  2. In the upper-right area of the page, click Add server.

    The Add server dialog box appears.

  3. Click Qumulo file storage.

    The Add Qumulo file storage dialog box appears.

  4. In the Name box, type the server name.

  5. In the Qumulo cluster box, enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the host.

  6. In the Username and Password boxes, type the credentials for a local Qumulo File Storage cluster user.

  7. From the Plan list, select a server backup plan.

  8. Enable the CIFS slider.

  9. To add access nodes, under Access Nodes, click Add, and then select the Windows access nodes that will participate in the backup operation.


    • You can select a file server or a file server group (containing Windows file servers) from the available nodes list.

    • All of the participating backup nodes must be at the same feature release level.

  10. To browse the file server with credentials, under Impersonate User, click Edit, and then type the credentials needed to access the file server.

    Note: These credentials are also used for the backup operation.

  11. To browse and select the CIFS shares available on the file server, for Backup Content, click Edit, and then select the CIFS share.

  12. Click Save.


Commvault adds a Qumulo File Storage file server that has CIFS agent with a default backup set and a default subclient.
