Add a Database Server for Informix

Add the server that contains the Informix instances that you want to back up.


  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The Instances page appears.

  2. Click Add server, and then select Informix.

    The Add Informix server dialog box appears.

  3. For OS Type list, select the operating system of the server.

  4. In the Database server name box, type the server name.

  5. In the Username and Password boxes, type the credentials that you use to connect to the server.

    Note: For Windows, the user name must be in the domain_name\user_name format.

  6. For Plan list, select the server plan to use for the server.

    The server plan specifies how the software backs up the database server.

  7. To grant write access to a UNIX group, such as the dba group, in the UNIX group box, type the name of the group.

  8. To specify where the Commvault software is installed on the server, in the Installation location box, enter the path.

    If you do not enter a path, by default, the Commvault software is installed at the following locations:

    • For Windows, the default location is C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore.

    • For UNIX, the default location is /opt/commvault.

  9. Click Add.
