Replication of SAP HANA Databases

Updated

You can replicate IntelliSnap backups of a SAP HANA database to a synced copy of the database on a infrastructure. A replication operation is automatically triggered when an IntelliSnap full backup is run on the source (primary) database. This automatic operation keeps the replicated target database in sync with the source database, up to the time when the most recent replication operation completes.

The Auto Recovery feature includes the following capabilities:

  • Supports replication of SAP HANA databases on cloud infrastructure like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Minimizes the impact on production systems CPU and I/O by using the backup data for replication. This method avoids the need to read the source database again for replication.

  • Initiates a replication restore automatically as soon as the new snapshots are available on the target site.

  • Initiates replication after the auxiliary copy completes, when you use a copy precedence for replication.

If no new IntelliSnap full backups have been run since the last replication operation, then the next replication operation does not run.

Use IntelliSnap backup types to replicate SAP HANA databases.

Replication operations are supported on SAP HANA Multitenant Database Containers with the following configuration:

  • SAP HANA 2.0 SPS01 and higher Multitenant Database Containers on a single node setup

  • A SYSTEMDB that has one tenant database
