You can restore the SharePoint Online sites to their original location (in place).
From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Office 365.
The Office 365 apps page appears.
Click the app that contains the sites you want to restore.
The app page appears.
On the Sites tab, select the sites you want to restore.
Click Restore, and then click Restore sites.
The Restore options dialog box appears, with options for restoring to the original location already selected.
If not already created during client creation, create and enter the Azure storage account details. For more information, see Create a storage account in the Microsoft documentation.
Note: During a restore operation, the Azure storage account is used as a staging location. Verify that the Azure storage account has Resource Manager as its deployment manager and General Purpose V1 or General Purpose V2 as its account kind. For replication, select the low-cost option Locally-redundant storage (LRS). In the Advanced tab, verify that Allow access from is set to the default option All networks.
Under File options, specify what to do with existing items:
To overwrite existing items, select Unconditional overwrite.
To not overwrite existing items, select Skip.
Under Advanced options, do the following:
To restore the ACLs, select the Restore ACLs only check box.
To restore the workflow definitions and alerts, select the Restore workflow definition and alerts only check box.
To restore only the latest version, select the Restore latest version only check box.
Tip: To search for data to restore, use the search box in the upper-right area of the page. When you click the search box, more search capabilities appear.
