You can create an instant clone for DB2 to quickly duplicate a source database.
Before You Begin
The source client and the destination client must have the same version of DB2.
The DB2 user in both the source and destination database servers must have the same user ID.
The Commvault DB2 package and the MediaAgent must be installed on the destination client.
On the client that you will create the clone database on, create a directory to use as the mount path for the database clone files. This directory must be writable by the DB2 user, and must have the necessary space for the cloned server.
From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.
The Instances page appears.
On the Instant clones tab, in the upper-right area of the page, click Instant clone.
The Instant clone page appears.
The Instant clone dialog box appears.
Under Source details, specify the server, instance, and database to create the clone from.
Under Destination details, specify the following:
Destination server: Select the destination server.
Instance name: Select the instance to clone.
DB2 home: Enter the location of the path.
Staging path: Enter the location of the dump files.
Target database name: Enter a name for the cloned database.
DB2 user account: Enter the user name and password of the account to connect to the DB2 instance with.
For Roll forward, specify the type of roll forward action:
To roll forward to the end of the logs, select To end of logs.
To roll forward to a specific backup operation, select Point in time, and then enter the date and time when that backup ran.
Clone options: Under Clone options, specify the following:
Delete clone after: Specify the length of time to retain the clone.
By default, the clone is retained for 24 hours. When the reservation period expires, the clone server is dismounted and the mount point is deleted.
Clone from copy: Select the type of copy to make the clone from.
Use iSCSI server: If you are using an array that does not have cloning capability, then select the client that will function as the iSCSI server to mount the cloned snapshots.
Overwrite if clone exists: To overwrite an existing clone instance, select the check box.
Under Post clone operation, to run a script after the clone is created, enter the path to the script.
