When you log on after you purchase a new license for an existing CommServe server, a dialog box appears that asks you to apply the license to the CommServe environment.
The dialog box appears only if the following conditions apply:
You are logging on after a new license was uploaded to the CommServe server. If you are already logged on when a new license is uploaded, the dialog box does not appear.
Automatic upload of licenses is turned on.
The CommServe server is an existing installation, not a new installation.
Before You Begin
Obtain a new license from your software provider. To request a new license, on the Commvault Maintenance Advantage Customer Support portal, go to Product Registration & License Management. In this form, you must include your CommCell ID, Serial Number, and Registration Code. You can copy this information from the License page.
To turn on automatic upload of new licenses, in the Cloud Metrics Reporting settings, verify that Proactive Support is selected. Otherwise, the license files do not automatically upload to the CommServe server. For instructions, see Activating Cloud Metrics Reporting in the Command Center or Activating Cloud Metrics Reporting in CommCell Console.
Log on to the Command Center.
The License and Registration dialog box appears.
At the bottom of the window, click Apply.
If Metallic cloud storage is included in the license file and the Metallic cloud storage service user agreement dialog box appears, perform the following steps:
Click the Metallic Terms and Conditions link to read the terms and condition.
A new page opens in a web browser and displays the information.
In the Metallic cloud storage service user agreement dialog box, select the check box.
The check box is unavailable until you click the Metallic Terms and Conditions link and read the agreement.
If you click Cancel, all other product and feature licenses will be available. Only Metallic cloud storage cannot be configured.
