Applies to: Data source is a Windows computer or a NetApp filer where Analyze from source is selected
You can view the user who most recently accessed a file and the access history for the file. Access information is refreshed approximately every 30 minutes.
The file monitoring information is also available when you perform operations such as moving files. The file monitoring information on the operations page is pruned after 60 days.
Before You Begin
Review the considerations for file monitoring.
If you did not enable monitoring when you added the file server as a data source, on the data source Details tab, in the Configuration section, click Edit. In the Edit data source dialog box, move the Enable monitoring toggle key to the right.
From the navigation pane, go to Data Insights.
The Data Insights page appears.
Under Risk Analysis, click Sensitive data governance.
The Sensitive data governance page appears.
For the project that you want to view, click the action button , and then click Quick view.
Under Data sources, click the data source.
On the Discover tab, the data source dashboard page appears.
On the Details tab, under the Details section, click File monitoring report.
The file monitoring report appears.
Review the information on the report:
Most Active Files: Displays the names of the files that have the most activity. The amount of activity for each file is displayed as a percentage.
Most Active Users: Displays the names of users and how many times they accessed files. For example, if a user accessed 1 file 10 times, 10 is displayed in the tile. A percentage is also displayed for each user so that you can see which users have the most activity.
Sensitivity: Displays the number of files by the level of sensitive entities that they contain. For example, the chart shows the number of files that contain entities where the sensitivity is set to Critical.
Files by Entity: Displays the number of files by the type of personally identifiable information (PII) in the files.
Table: Lists file names, file locations, users, and access times. To show the change history for the User column or the Access Time column, click Show history.
To filter the report by user name or by file name, in the upper-left area of the report, in the Search text box, enter the search text.
