Data Views for the Peak Capacity Usage Growth Report

Updated

The Peak Capacity Usage Growth report includes several charts and tables that display information about peak capacity license consumption over time.

This report appears only at the Worldwide level.

Usage Calculation

The average growth rate is calculated by dividing the total data growth (in terabytes) by the number of days in the month. The predicted growth rate is calculated by multiplying the average growth rate by the number of days in the next 6 months, 12 months, and 18 months. If the 6-month, 12-month, or 18-month prediction exceeds the current purchased capacity, then a prediction message is not shown. Only the message that states the month and year on which you will run out of capacity appears. For example, if you have purchased 2 TB of capacity and over the next 6, 12, or 18 months, you will use 2.5 TB, then the estimated usage statement does not appear.

For more detailed information about Capacity-based licenses, see License Usage by Capacity - License Types.

The following messages appear in the report, based on the associated conditions:

Prediction Message

Condition

Estimated Usage at Current Rate: Next 6 Months

Data size increase is greater than 0.

Estimated Usage at Current Rate: Next 12 Months

Data size increase is greater than 0.

Estimated Usage at Current Rate: Next 18 Months

Data size increase is greater than 0.

You will run out of capacity by <Month/Year>

Purchased capacity will run out before 50 years from the current month.

You have adequate capacity based on current trends

  • Data size is not growing.

  • You have purchased enough capacity for the next 50 years.

Suggested Capacity to Purchase based on Current Growth Rate

Appears only for CommCells set up with Traditional Licenses. Indicates that the number of licenses needs to be increased, based on the given rate.

Current Capacity Usage

Amount of space used for front-end data in terabytes (FET). FET is the amount of data in the largest backup job from the most recent full backup cycle. Indicates whether you are approaching the capacity license limit.

No message

Data size is not growing, or is getting smaller.

Backup Peak Usage Per Month

This chart displays the amount of space consumed by backup jobs in the CommCell over the last year. License usage is determined by calculating the size of data that is contained in backup jobs. The lines indicate the amount of purchased capacity and included capacity.

The message to the left of the graph indicates the amount of capacity that your organization will need over the next 6 months, 12 months, and 18 months. This calculation is based on the capacity that your organization consumed during the last full month, added to the projected usage for the next 6 months, 12 months, and 18 months.

You can see more detailed information about capacity usage in each month by clicking a month in the chart. For more information, see Backup Peak Usage for Month.

Archive Peak Usage Per Month

This chart displays the amount of space consumed by archive jobs in the CommCell over the last year.

For more information, see Archive Peak Usage for Month.

Replication Peak Usage Per Month

This chart displays the amount of space consumed by replication jobs in the CommCell over the last year.

For more information, see Replication Peak Usage for Month.

Snapshot Peak Usage Per Month

This chart displays the amount of space consumed by snapshot backup jobs in the CommCell over the last year.
