To logically group assets in your CommCell environment, create an inventory. For example, create an inventory for a particular group of users or to fulfill other business needs.
You can automatically discover all servers in a domain by adding a name server. Name servers are Active Directory identity servers. You can also add individual file servers.
From the navigation pane, go to Activate.
The Activate page appears.
Under Settings, click Inventory manager.
The Inventory manager page appears.
In the upper-right corner of the page, click Add inventory.
The Add inventory dialog box appears.
In the Name box, enter a name for the inventory.
From the Index server list, select an Index Server.
The inventory properties page appears.
Choose one of the following methods to add assets to the inventory:
To automatically discover all of the servers in a domain, add an Active Directory identity server (name server) as an asset.
Tip: Because the servers are automatically discovered, adding a domain prevents servers from being left out of an inventory.
To add individual file servers, add each file server as an asset.
Optional: Update the default schedule:
In the Configure section, in the Schedule row, click Edit.
The Edit schedule dialog box appears.
Adjust the schedule.
For example, schedule the data collection job to run every Sunday.
