You can view the file differences for the Salesforce metadata—such as layouts, Apex code, and workflows—between two different backup times. You can also compare two Salesforce organizations.
Before You Begin
You must include metadata in the subclient that you use for the backups. For more information, see Backing Up Salesforce Metadata.
Verify that you have both a full backup and an incremental backup. For more information, see Performing Salesforce Backups.
The Commvault user must be associated with a role that includes the Download permission.
Procedure
From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Salesforce.
The Salesforce page appears.
In the Name column, click the app.
The app page appears.
On the Compare tab, from the Select compare type list, select Metadata compare.
From the Select source date and Select date to compare lists, select the dates for the backups that you want to compare.
From the Select destination organization list, select the Salesforce organization that contains the metadata that you want to compare.
To filter the metadata comparison results, click + Add filter.
The Filters dialog box appears.
From the Filter by list, select the filter that you want to use.
From the Condition list, select the condition that you want to apply to the filter.
Beside the condition, enter a value.
To add additional rules to filter by, click Add Rule.
Click Apply Filters.
Click Compare.
The Metadata summary page appears, and shows the changes to the metadata.
To view details for metadata, in the Added, Modified, or Deleted column, click the number.
The Updated metadata components page appears.
To view the metadata difference between the source and destination metadata, beside the metadata filename, select the check box, and then click View difference.
The Metadata difference page appears.
To download the source metadata, next to the metadata, select the check box, and then click Download > Download source files.
To download the destination metadata, next to the metadata, select the check box, and then click click Download > Download destination files.
