To use the Exchange Database application in a Database Availability Group (DAG) environment, you must configure a DAG client and select a server.
The DAG client (also called pseudoclient and master client) stores the configuration information for all the member servers, and coordinates backup operations and restore operations for different servers.
Before You Begin
You must install the Exchange package on each member server using the fully qualified domain name.
From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Applications > Exchange.
The Exchange page appears.
Click Add, and then click Exchange Database.
The Add Exchange Database dialog box appears.
In the Server name box, type a name for the DAG client.
From the Plan list, select a plan.
From the AD domain name list, select an Active Directory domain name server.
Note: Only configured Active Directory domain name servers appear in this list, but you can add a domain name server, which will then appear in this list. For more information, see Adding Domains.
Type the user name and the password for the domain.
Optional: If DAG is set up in a restricted environment, install the application on a proxy computer that has access to both the CommServe server and the Active Directory. Select the Access node for DAG discovery check box, and then select the appropriate proxy computer.
From the DAG servers list, select a DAG server that has an available member server.
From the Member servers list, select a member server, and then click OK.

The new Exchange DAG client is created. The client contains a default subclient.
