To protect a Kubernetes cluster with Commvault, you must configure a few entities in Commvault.
-
A Kubernetes service account. Commvault uses the service account to authenticate and access applications for running backups and other operations.
-
An access node. Access nodes run backups and other operations. For Kubernetes, access nodes communicate with the Kubernetes API server to discover, protect, and recover applications.
-
Application groups. An application group is a set of data that you want to protect. For Kubernetes, the data is the Kubernetes applications, namespaces, namespaced objects, non-namespaced objects, and persistent volume data that you want to protect.
