To protect Amazon EC2 instances, configure backups and other settings in Commvault. Commvault supports back up using Commvault infrastructure method and back up using gateways method.
The following terms are helpful to understand when configuring protection for Amazon EC2 instances:
-
Access node: Connects with, discovers, backs up, and restores your data source.
-
Hypervisor: Represents an AWS account. In a multi-account environment, data protection operations and resources can be shared (for example, from an AWS admin account hypervisor to AWS tenant account hypervisors).
-
VM group: Uses auto-discovery rules and other methods to specify a set of Amazon EC2 instances that are backed up together using the same backup settings.
