Configuring a Subclient for Azure NetApp Files on NFS Shares

Subclients contain information about what data is backed up. You can create a user-defined subclient to manage and back up data on NFS shares.

Subclients can contain a combination of files and directories.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > File servers.

    The File servers page appears.

  2. Click the file server.

    The file server page appears.

  3. Under Agents, click UNIX File System.

    The UNIX File System page appears.

  4. In the Subclients area, click Add subclient.

    The Add Subclient page appears.

  5. In the General area, in the Subclient Name box, type the subclient name.

  6. In the Backup method box, select NFS.

  7. In the Proxy box, select a computer that has the Linux File System Agent installed and has access to the NFS shares.

  8. In the Plan box, select a server plan.

  9. On the Content tab, choose the data to include in the backup.

    • To enter paths you want to include in backups, in the Enter custom path field, enter the same path where you mounted the NFS share on the linux computer, and then click the add Managing File System Subclients (1) button.

      Note

      When you add content to a subclient, the subclient content can be either a mounted path or in the file_server_interface:/NFS_export_path format. For more information on Auto-mount feature and adding mounted paths, see Creating a Subclient with Auto-mount Contents for NFS Exports and Creating a Subclient for NFS Exports.

    • To select items from a file system view of the server, click Browse, and then select the check boxes for the items that you want to include in backups.

    • To use a saved user credentials to access the file system, click Impersonate user, and then select the credential to use.

  10. To add filters to exclude items from backups, in the Exclusions tab, do the following:

    • To enter paths to items you want to exclude from backups, in the Enter custom path field, enter a filter pattern, and then click the add Managing File System Subclients (2) button.

    • To select items from a file system view of the server, click Browse, and then select the check boxes for the items that you want to exclude from backups.

    • To configure how global exceptions are applied to the subclient, from the Include global exception filters list, select one of the following:

      • Use cell level policy (default): Enables or disables the global exceptions for the subclient depending on whether the Use global filters on all subclients option is enabled for the environment.

      • On: Enables the global exceptions for the subclient.

      • Off: Disables the global exceptions for the subclient.

  11. To configure exceptions to the exclusion filters, in the Exceptions tab, do the following:

    • To enter paths to items you want to except from the backup filters (exclusions), in the Enter custom path field, enter a filter pattern, and then click the add Managing File System Subclients (3) button.

    • To select items from a file system view of the server, click Browse, and then select the check boxes for the items that you want to except from the backup filters (exclusions).

  12. Click Save.
