Creating a Credential Entity

You can create a credential entity to store, share, and update account credentials for shared resources in your environment. You can create credential entities for Windows accounts, Linux accounts, SQL Server accounts, storage array accounts, and cloud accounts.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Security.

    The Security page appears.

  2. Click the Credential vault tile.

    The Manage credentials page appears.

  3. From the upper-right corner of the page, click Add.

The Add credential dialog box appears.

  4. From the Account Type list, select the type of account that you want to create the credential entity for.

    • Windows Account

    • Linux Account

    • SQL Server Account

    • Storage Array Account

    • Cloud Account

    • NDMP Account

      Note

A NetApp C-Mode file server may have both an NDMP Account and a Storage Array Account. The NDMP Account password is the NDMP password generated on the file server. Run the generate-password command on the file server to obtain an NDMP password. For more information, see the NetApp documentation for your file server.

  5. Enter the credentials.

For information about the credentials for each account type, see Access Information by Account Type for Disk or Cloud Storage.

  6. Under Security, in the User/Group field, select the users or user groups that you want to give permission to use the credential entity.

  7. Click Save.
