Replication configuration includes Google Cloud Platform (GCP) setup and Commvault configuration. You can configure the required Commvault entities individually, or all together using the replication group configuration tool.
Commvault Configuration
Commvault configuration includes the following entities:
-
Hypervisor configurations for the source and destination sites
-
Recovery target for each destination site
-
Replication group for virtual machines or instances that are replicated from the primary site to the secondary site
In addition, you can deploy access nodes in your environment to manage operations and MediaAgents to manage data movement. These entities are needed on the primary and destination sites.
GCP Hypervisor Configuration
Define a GCP service account with permissions to access GCP instances and projects.
-
To back up and restore GCP instances, you must create a GCP service account, and then download the JSON file for GCP service account authentication. You will need this file when you add a GCP hypervisor to your environment.
For more information, see "Create a Google Cloud Platform Service Account" in Configuring Backups for Google Cloud Platform.
-
The access node must be present on Google Cloud. You can designate one access node to back up instances from multiple projects (to which access rights are provided in your GCP service account). For faster backups and restores, designate at least one access node for every GCP region.
