OCI Object Storage

Updated

You can use the Commvault software to back up and restore data in OCI Object Storage.

Backups

Data You Can Back Up

  • Object storage repositories

  • Metadata of the object

  • Tags of the bucket

  • State (enabled or disabled) of certain bucket level property settings such as visibility, encryption key assigned, auto-tiering, emit object events, and object versioning.

Data You Cannot Back Up

  • Modified metadata of the object (in incremental backups)

    Note

After a full backup, if the tag or the metadata of an object is modified, but the data has not changed, then the next incremental backup does not include that object. Incremental backups include only objects whose data has changed.

  • Files and folders without a name.

  • Files and folders that contain a forward slash ("/") in their names.

Backups You Can Perform

  • Full backups

  • Incremental backups

  • Synthetic full backups

When You Can Perform Backups

  • On a schedule: The server plan that you assign manages scheduled backups

  • On demand: You can perform on-demand backups at any time
