You can add MediaAgent role to an inactive MediaAgent. The license will be consumed and the MediaAgent will become active.
Active MediaAgents are MediaAgents having license. Inactive MediaAgents are MediaAgents having MediaAgent package installed, but license is not consumed.
Procedure

From the CommCell Browser, go to Client Computers.

Right-click the client (inactive MediaAgent you want to add MediaAgent role, and then click All Tasks > Add MediaAgent Role.
Note
The Add MediaAgent Role option will be displayed only when you select an inactive MediaAgent.
