Updated

Use this procedure to create a subclient for the primary database and the standby database in a Data Guard configuration when you want the backups stored to local storage.

Procedure

Run the following steps, first for the primary server, then for the standby server:

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client.

  2. Right-click the instance, point to All Tasks, and then click New Subclient.

The Creating New Subclient dialog box appears.

  3. On the General tab, in the Subclient Name box, enter a name for the subclient.

  4. On the Content tab, make the following selections:

    • Select the Data check box.

    • Select Offline Database or Online Database depending on your business needs.

    • Select the Backup Control File check box.

  5. On the Storage Device tab make the following selections:

    1. From the Storage Policy list, select the storage policy that uses local storage.

    2. If the subclient is for the primary database, then in the row for the primary database client, in the Streams box, type the total number of streams and in the row for the standby database, in the Streams box, type 0.

    3. If the subclient is for the standby database, then in the row for the standby database client, in the Streams box, type the total number of streams and in the row for the primary database, in the Streams box, type 0.

  6. Click OK.
