Creating a Disk Library with Automated Mount Path Detection

Automated disk library is a process to configure new mount paths automatically when a new LUN is mounted under a given folder as the Mount point.

Automated disk library is useful in the following cases:

  • Multiple disk devices need to be detected and automatically assigned as a mount path in the library.

  • Storage is in Building Block and needs to be shared across MediaAgents.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand to Storage Resources.

  2. Right-click Libraries, and the click Add | Advanced | Disk Library with Automated Mount Path Detection.

  3. In the Add Disk Library with Automated Mount Path dialog box, specify the following:

    1. In the Name box, type name of the disk library.

    2. From the MediaAgent list, select the appropriate MediaAgent.

      Note

The list displays MediaAgents classified as Active (MediaAgents having license) and Inactive (MediaAgents having MediaAgent package installed, but license not consumed). The license is auto consumed if you select an inactive MediaAgent.

    3. In the Disk Device box, enter the file path to the mount point.

      Tip

When you mount a disk (LUN), assign the above mount-point folder path (rather than a drive letter) to the drive.

This will ensure that the newly added drive is automatically displayed as a mount path under the library.

    4. Click OK.
