Getting Started with the SAP for Oracle Agent

Step 1: Review Requirements and Supported Features

Step 2: Install the SAP for Oracle Database Agent

Windows

• Prepare the Installation on Windows Computers

  Review general guidelines to prepare for the installation, which include configurations that your computer might need before the installation.

• Preinstallation Checklist for the SAP for Oracle Agent on Windows and the MediaAgent

  Review agent-specific guidelines to prepare for the installation, such as gathering the information that you must provide during the installation.

• Installation Methods

  Select the installation method that is most appropriate for your environment.

Unix

• Prepare the Installation on UNIX, Linux, and Macintosh Computers

  Review general guidelines to prepare for the installation, which include configurations that your computer might need before the installation.

  Select the installation method that is most appropriate for your environment.

Step 3: Configure Your Environment

1. Open the CommCell Console.

2. Configure a storage device.

3. Configure the client for IntelliSnap.

4. If you have not done so already, configure a storage policy.

5. Create a SAP for Oracle database online subclient.

   Note

   • You must keep data and logs on a separate volume group.

   • A revert restore operation is applicable for SAPDATA volumes only. The source computer must have a separate Volume Group that has only SAPDATA volumes. You must not include any other mount points or sub-mount points in the Volume Group.

6. Create a snapshot copy.

7. Configure a backup copy.

Step 4: Run Your First Backup and Restore

• Back up data.

• Restore data.

Step 5: What to Do Next

• Manage snapshots.
